I look for quick, healthy and budget conscious. I have to be able to do it in the very short window between work and when the baby goes to bed…not much time!
Not using a lot of ingredients I have to go out and buy and never use again!
Oh Wow what a fun looking cookbook. I suppose I look for a recipe that is different -yet will excite my family. They are somewhat picky eaters but if I can find something that contains basic ingredients (that they already like) but has flair and makes a great presentation I will use it- especially for a gathering.
I am always looking for new ways to make "the same old thing" seem new again. I also look for meals that are kid/teenager friendly (meaning…will they eat this?), not to mention cost efficient and that does not include ingredients that are impossible to find in the midwest. I am always open to new ideas!
Hmmm, I would have to go with something the whole family would at least try …not too far out there or including ingredients that are hard to track down or I wouldn't normally have on hand.
Sounds like a great cookbook! I try to find recipes that we will all enjoy – hard to do with my two picky eaters!
I look for how much it can feed on little
I like one-pot meals and also make-ahead recipes. Since I live in the country, 35 miles from the nearest grocery store(!), I also look for recipes that contain ingredients I have on hand!
I like simple recipes that you don’t always need a recipe to make. I don’t like to have to measure a bunch of ingredients. It doesn’t have to be a one pot meal. As I am frying my meat, I usually am boiling my macaroni if I am making a casserole and then I use one of the kettles to combine all my ingredients. If I can finish it on top of the stove, that is great otherwise, I pop the casserole in the oven until bubbly.
What I look for in a recipe is nostalgia and ease. I say nostalgia because we traveled a lot when I was little and we sampled some really great cuisine. So when I am looking for or run across a recipe, what draws me in is does it bring that comfort, security and "good ole days" feeling in the pit of my stomach. If any of that makes any sense to anyone else.
I look for healthy (most important), and easy to follow (2nd) in recipes.ones that have cooking tips which i can apply to other recipes are especially awesome.
I look at what I have in the fridge and panty that needs to be used, then look for a recipe that we would like with some of those ingredients.
i look for things that are quick but new and exciting – maybe one or two ingredients i havent tried before
Right now, I look for recipes that use up the unusual items I bought for a recipe and have left over.
A recipe that uses ingredients I have on hand.
Primarily I look for something easy to make. Second to that, I look for something that is different and/or interesting, or something that I'm pretty confident my family will like.
I like quick and easy preferably with ingredients that are on hand.
I own this cook book and it is AWESOME!!! have made so many of the recipes and everyone is wonderful, not too many ingredients, and economical for the most part. I LOVVVVVVVVE it!
Agreed! It really is a great cookbook! It will definitely be put to good use!
I look for easy and fairly quick prep time. I also look for healthy but if I find a recipe that may not be the healthiest, I just try to substitute ingredients (low fat cheeses, turkey instead of ground beef, etc.). MLD has made me a cook! Thanks, Sunshine!
What I look for in a recipe is how yummy it looks in the picture! Really, I do then I have to check to make sure it doesn't have anything I'm real allergic too.
I like my recipes quick and easy.
i look for a recipe that leaves room for creativity. having everything on hand is a bonus, but not always realistic. keeping the integrity of the original recipe, but allowing for a little extra this or that is what i am usually looking for in a trusted, go-to recipe.
I look to see if we have the ingredients -if we don't if we would use any ingredients needed ie. not crazy ingredients that we will only use for that recipe. And it can't be too complicated.
What we look for in recipes is mainly ingredients already in the house so we don't have to make a special trip to the store.

I look for quick and healthy recipes! It's also nice when they have staple items that are easily found in the fridge or pantry
I love quick, healthy recipes that contain simple ingredients!
I look to see if the recipe is a kid-pleaser and to see what, if any, of the ingredients we have on hand. If it requires a lot of "foreign" ingredients, then I move on to the next recipe.
I look for anything EASY! I am new to the whole cooking thing so it has to be easy
Well I have a family of five that is always on the go. I work full time as a kindergarten teacher and a husband that is a minister. We are very involved in our church and our children's activities. I am looking for some simple recipes with as few ingredients as possible. I would like to be able to do it the morning of in the crock pot or something quick when I get home.
What I look for most in recipes are simple ingredients and directions that are not complicated. Also I look for quick time in cooking and preparing.
I look for healthy, quick and easy recipes.
I look for something that's going to be fast and easy
The number one thing I look for in a recipe is uniqueness! I love mixing things up and trying something new.
I definitely look for value over everything else. When going through a recipe, I evaluate the cost versus the number of uses, and the versatility. Also, i don't just want to make a different version of a same ol', same ol' dish – I want vibrance and creativity! Healthy is also a plus, but not necessary (especially in the case of alfredo…).
Quick and healthy recipes and easy to make!
Most importantly I look for a recipe that will feed a family of five! I hate it when I have to redo measurements to make sure it is enough to feed my family.
I also want something that the ingredients are simple, things I have on hand or items that are easy to find in the grocery store.
Last it has to sound yummy and be something that children will eat!
I love recipes that don't have tons of ingredients so I can save $$ by not having to buy special ingredients.
I like recipes with few ingredients because sometimes I'm too busy to go grocery shopping for specila ingredients
I look for recipes that are quick with few ingredients and (more recently) with a healthy kick. It also helps if the ingredients are simple. By simple I mean available at the local market or grocery.
I like recipes that use ingredients that I usually have on hand. That always makes it so much easier to try out new dishes.
I look for recipes that look and sound delicious, use ingredients from a well stocked pantry, and are economical.
I look for quick and healthy meals. I usually don't have the energy to slave away in the kitchen by the time I get home each night, so it's nice to have something that is easy to make, but at the same time good for me.
i just want a generally simple recipe, not too many ingredients, prep and cook time under an hour, nothing too expensive, and very tasty!
The recipes have to be easy to follow in terms of directions, with ingredients which are easy to purchase at markets
Quick, easy and uses items I have on hand.
I look for healthy, quick and filling recipes because my husband eats like a horse!
I look for recipes that have inexpensive easy-to-find ingredients. Also, the recipes need to be for things that my four kids will eat.
I look for recipes that don't have unusual ingredients just basic, easy, healthy, but also flavorful.
Right now I'm into molecular cuisine. I guess I'm into experimental and unsual recipes which have to challenging to me.
I look at the list of ingredients not only to see how long that list is, but to check on ingredients that I would have on hand or be willing to buy. I don't consider recipes with expensive or unusual ingredients that I would probably not use for other recipes.
