I think anything homemade will trump store bought any day. I just know they will add preservatives and nasty things like that to them. That makes a huge difference in taste. One side note on the gooey butter cakes... My favorite version, original, with pecans added to the bottom/cake layer. My second favorite, use coconut cake mix (or white w/ coconut extract added) and add shredded coconut to the cream cheese layer.
