Shine Your Light & Let the Whole World See

August 9, 2009

A group from our church just got back from a mission trip to Ghana, Africa a little over a week ago.  Quite a few of the group of 12 that went have had the opportunity to give personal testimonies about their experience and how God worked through them during this mission trip.  They have all been very powerful and emotional testimonies.

They showed this video in church this evening.  I was helping in the nursery so I had to wait until I got home to see it on our church website.  It is moving beyond words.  The chorus of the song in the video struck me…..“Shine your light and let the whole world see.  Singin’ for the glory of the risen King.” It reminds me of the children’s song, This Little Light of Mine.  Our light isn’t meant to be kept to ourselves. It’s to be held high for the whole world to see!

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-1

Before I go, I would like to ask you to pray for one of my dear friends.   Our friend, James goes on almost every mission trip that our church has.  He has been faithful in going on many mission trips each year for the past 4 fours.  The Lord is leading him to do a mighty work for our Lord.  James has felt the Lord calling him to be a preacher and satan is mightily trying to bring him down.  I would like to ask you to please lift our dear friend James up in prayer.  He is one of the most inspiring men my husband and I have ever met and he needs to be lifted up right now.

Thank you with all my heart for praying for him.
