Candy Bar Cake

April 30, 2009
We are very blessed to have our pastor and his family as neighbors.  Last night our pastor called and said he was bringing something over to us.  They had made us a Candy Bar Cake, and oh my goodness, was it good!  His wife was sweet enough to share the recipe with me so I could share it with all of you!

Printable Version: Candy Bar Cake

Ingredients
  • 1 Box Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 1 Can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 Tub Cool Whip
  • 3 Candy Bars of your choice (Hershey’s Bar, Snickers, Heath Bar, even Reese’s)

Directions:
Bake cake mix according to directions on the box.  Right out of the oven, poke the cake full of holes and pour one can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk over it.  Refrigerate until cake is completely cold. Once cake is chilled, spread Cool whip over cake and sprinkle 3 chopped candy bars of your choice over it.  Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Note: I have found the longer it is refrigerated, the better it tastes.  I usually try to do the cake and eagle brand steps the night before I plan to serve it.  If making it all the same day, I will place it in the freezer for 30 min. to help it cool faster.  Just don’t want to forget it is in there!

This recipe is very similar to Paula Deen's "Better Than Sex Cake." I could really use some right about now. Cake, that is! LOL

I need to get new neighbors! Where's my candy bar cake? That looks absolutely delicious. Actually, my neighbor can wield a hammer and saw like nobody's business, so I can't complain.

I have tried this before. But my candy bar of choice was only 2 but I made it 2 candy bars for each. I used 2 snicker bars and 2 butterfinger bars. And I added a vanilla powder to my cake. It's superb. I remembered right away the taste when I saw your recipe.
