When Life Give You Lemons… You Make Lemonade!

July 15, 2008

Of course, I don’t need to wait around for life to give me lemons in order to make lemonade! This is one of our favorite summer drinks! Keith loves to make lemonade, so he’s the one usually in the kitchen for this one : ) I stand back, wait ’til he’s finished and enjoy the sweet goodness of a nice tall glass of homemade lemonade! Keith has made lemonade since he was a kid so he doesn’t really use a recipe anymore, but this one from Paula Deen is pretty much what we do at home (except the mint sprigs…..we’re not trying to impress anyone : )
Lemonade

Paula Deen

2 cups sugar
1 cup hot water
2 cups fresh lemon juice (we like to use ReaLemon, which you can find on the juice aisle at the grocery store)
1 gallon cold water
1 lemon, sliced
Mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

In a 1 gallon container, place sugar and hot water, and stir until sugar dissolves. Add lemon juice and cold water to render 1 gallon. Stir until well mixed. Pour lemonade over glasses of ice, squeeze slice of lemon on top of each, and garnish with a sprig of mint if desired.

(Keith also likes to put a few slices of lemonade in the pitcher as well. It adds as a nice display when you have company, plus it also adds to the taste of the lemonade.)
