This past weekend Keith and I went to Mt. View to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. While we were there we went to Blanchard Springs Caverns. This was my second time to visit this caverns, which are absolutely beautiful. With the current flooding that is taking place, our tour guide said that he is seeing water in places in the caverns that he has never seen water in over the 17 years that he’s been there. Plus, with all of the water there the caverns are absolutely beautiful (not that they’re not already). They are glistening and shiny and it’s just breath taking.
If you have never been, I encourage you to go. It’s about a 2-2/12 hour drive from Little Rock. It makes a perfect day trip. There is plenty to do in Mt. View. They have tons of shops and places to eat, along with live music (or pickin’ as some call it) each weekend on the town square.
Here are a couple of pictures from the spring that runs out of the caverns. The picture on the left was taken in 2006 during our first visit. The picture on the right was taken this past weekend. HUGE difference!
